NINE SONS OF DAN

Fun, young and full of passion Gold Coast‟s (Australia) Nine Sons Of Dan have emerged from the masses, hailed by local radio stations as the "next big thing". The praise from E-guide even goes as far as proclaiming these sons as the future of Australian rock.

The Matthew Bartlem (Dead Letter Circus, Sunk Loto, Avalon Drive) produced recording arms Nine Sons Of Dan with loads of hooks that impact in a killer live set.

"She‟s So Fine" is also the single that crowned them winners of the 2011 New Artist 2 Radio Award in the rock category, beating out over 300 entries, and decided by a panel of leading music and program directors of commercial radio stations, based on commercial radio play potential earning them a share of commercial radio airplay, across the day, valued at $1.3 million, on the Australian Radio Network, Southern Cross Austereo, DMG Radio, ACE Radio, Prime Radio and Grant Broadcasters for a minimum of six weeks from December 1 2011. The band also performed the single alongside Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Stan Walker and Sneaky Sound System at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards held on the Gold Coast in October 2011.

Working together on a university recording project has evolved into a successfully touring band consisting of Jay Bainbridge (Vocals), Daniel Cox (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Alex Pundyk (Rhythm Guitar/Vocals) and Morgan Flakey‟ Blake (Drums).

With the addition of bassist Wil Edgar in late 2010, frontman Bainbridge frees his ability to interact with the audience to convey his lyrics. The Californian-born singer moved to Australia at the age of 13, eluding his fate of becoming another typical "OC kid". Upon finding his musical brothers in a new environment, a motivated group began creating their own destiny.

"We sound happy and just excited to be doing thisbecause we are," says the vocalist. "There‟s no stopping that energy coming out of us."

Fun but real, dynamic beats drive the emotions felt in the lyrics drawn from the singer‟s personal life. Based on an uninviting trip to New York, first single "Cities" stands up and pushes back on the force of bad attitudes while "She‟s So Fine" instantly sparks matters of the fluttering heart.

"I was watching one of my favorite bands when I noticed a girl standing side of stage who just stole my attention for the whole 30 minutes," Bainbridge recalls of the experience that resulted in the latest single.

"It‟s that crushing feeling when a person completely takes your attention and heart just by the look of them, which then usually makes you feel like you would trip over and make a fool of yourself if you were going to approach them!"

"She‟s So Fine" was the band‟s debut track serviced to commercial radio in December 2011 and was the #1 most added track to radio in Australia.

From an infatuation with a star to holding on to the one you love in difficult circumstances, Bainbridge‟s lyrics are simply what pour out. "We always just want our music to resemble where we are as a band and who we are as people. I think as long as we stick to that we can always make music that we are proud of," he says of the honest approach.

With an understanding of the music scene and a commitment to rising above, the young sons humbly began independently booking shows up and down the east coast. A strong live presence was established, taking Nine Sons Of Dan all the way to the Gold Coast Big Day Out with a place on the 2011 lineup.

"It was great for the band to go "Wow, look how far we have come.‟ We never thought we‟d be playing the Big Day Out at this stage of the band. It was amazing," says Bainbridge.

Utilising their formidable ability to perform, Nine Sons Of Dan outplayed 200 bands in Hot Tomato‟s Uncovered competition in 2010, 150 others at Loud 09 and were declared "best band" at Open Arms Festival. After winning the MySpace competition, they opened for Kisschasy on their Summer Seizures tour and again on their album tour and joined Avalon Drive for their special reunion show.

Adding to an already substantial list of achievements, Nine Sons Of Dan played to their biggest crowd to date in March 2011, opening for the Broncos Vs Titans match at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast to 20,000 people. In October 2011, the band performed at the Gold Coast 600 (V8 Supercars) and more recently supported Good Charlotte on their only Brisbane show.

An album, bigger shows and a possible trip back to where it all began for Bainbridge the US are all on the horizon.
