Naarm-based psych rock outfit Milou Moon fronted by French-American singer and guitarist Emily McGill is celebrating the release of their debut EP ‘Trails to Centre’ (March 22). Come down and have a beer and boogie while you vibe out to Milou Moon’s hypnotic, textured soundscapes.

With support sets from both Romanie and DJ Coward, this gig is guaranteed to be non-stop sick music so don’t sleep!

MILOU MOON

Milou Moon’s first two singles, ‘Drawn In’ and ‘Spin Cycle’ have received lots of love and support from a range of music and radio outlets across Australia, the US, and beyond. The release of Milou Moon’s debut single ‘Drawn In’ saw them sell out their single launch gig at Nighthawks last November. The ‘Trails to Centre’ EP (March 22) swirls from dreamy to grungy and back again while capturing a time in Em’s life during lockdown when music was the primary vehicle to unlock a crucial sense of expansiveness.

Em’s songwriting draws inspiration from the classic psych movement of the 60s and 70s as well as modern psychedelia (Melody’s Echo Chamber, The Lazy Eyes) while crafting her own distinct and captivating sound. Milou Moon is Em McGill (vocals/guitar), George De Silva (Drums), Sam O’Neil (synth, lead guitar), and Jevaan Waldron (Bass).

ROMANIE

Romanie’s music invites the listener to become immersed in a rich palette of sounds and influences, buoying a natural vocal talent. For Belgian-born, Melbourne-based singer and songwriter Romanie Assez, the music has always stemmed from an innate desire to express creativity through personal and engaging storytelling.

Her 2023 debut album ‘Are We There Yet?’ was nominated for the Australian Music Prize, and won the Triple J Unearthed x NIDA music video competition and the Upstart Award as well as a wide range of support from media and radio outlets through playlisting. Romanie has taken the Australian music scene by storm since she moved in 2019 through playing her own captivating headline shows and touring with 10cc (UK), Yoke Lore (US), Katy J Pearson (UK) and opening for BATTS, Woodlock, The Velvet Club and many more.

DJ COWARD
