Kohesia Quartet

Led by double bassist Kate Pass, the Kohesia Quartet performs original
compositions that explore Persian modes and rhythms.

A stripped back version of the acclaimed Kohesia Ensemble, Kohesia
Quartet combines the sounds of Persian flute (ney), percussion (daf)
lute (saz) and oud with double bass for a truly unique listening
 experience.

Kohesia Ensemble won the Martin Sims Award at Fringe World Festival in
2020 – the top tier prize that recognises “Best new West Australian
work that is destined to succeed on the world stage.” Having released
their debut album “Kohesia” in 2018, The Ensemble was nominated for
2018 WAM Best Album, Best Jazz Act and Best World Act.

Kohesia Ensemble has performed at an array of festivals including
National Folk Festival (ACT), Illawarra Folk Festival (NSW),
Fairbridge Festival, WAMFest, Perth International Jazz Festival,
Nannup Music Festival and Corner Pocket Jazz Festival.

The Quartet features a stellar line-up of Australian and Iranian
musicians: Esfandiar Shahmir, Reza Mirzaei, Mike Zolker, and Kate
 Pass.
