Renowned for their emotional lyricism and entrancing stage presence, Perth-based outfit Joan & The Giants have been captivating audiences with their distinctive brand of alternative-pop.

The band began with longtime partners Grace Newton-Wordsworth and Aaron Birch, who formed Joan & The Giants in 2019. Coming together from different backgrounds; Aaron, a Nyul Nyul man from a remote community in the Kimberley and Queer front-woman Grace from an organic farm down South of WA. The pair are now based in Perth with band members Riley Sutton and Liam Olsen.

No strangers to the spotlight, Joan & The Giants have embarked on multiple sold out WA tours, headlined festivals to thousands of people, had rave reviews, a premiere and airplay on Triple J and rotation on Unearthed. In 2022 JATG’s debut EP spent over 3 months on the top 10 metro community radio charts. They also received multiple nominations in last year’s prestigious International Songwriting Competition alongside artists such as Missy Higgins and Eskimo Joe. Most recently they have won multiple awards at the 2023 WA Music ‘Song of the Year’ Awards for ‘Rock’ with single ‘Cool Kid’, ‘Outstanding Indigenous’ with their track ‘The Weekend’ and they scored the Runner Up prize of the 2023 Song of The Year with ‘Cool Kid’. They also won ‘Best Lyrics’ for single ‘The Weekend’ at the 2022 WA Music Awards. Their latest music video for ‘Cool Kid’ has just been added to MTV Hits. The band have supported prominent acts like Caravana Sun, Coterie, Weyes Blood, Didirri, Eskimo Jo, Murray Cook, Odette, Winterbourne and more.

Joan & The Giants have pieced together the perfect music to cry, dance, laugh and cry again to.
