Duke of George presents
Dirty Jazz
Jessie Gordon is no stranger to the darker side of jazz. Join her for a thrilling speakeasy adventure featuring the filthiest of vintage tunes. Jessie delves into the dark corners of the pop music of the 1930s & 40s, exploring the dirty lyrics and double meanings hidden in this classic genre.
Who knew your great grandparents had such filthy minds, or perhaps they really were innocently just singing along to songs about large fruits, honey pots, keyholes and other inanimate objects.
Jessie is joined by a full band of boisterous musicians for this rip-roaring hour of musical pleasure, where there are more filthy songs about drinking, thinking and fine dining than you can poke a stick at, and none of them are safe for regular consumption.
There are songs for the swooning moonshiners, those inclined to wine, those frisky for whisky and some odes to our favourite friends, those tenders of the bar. In the dark, dingy corners and smokey recesses of the Golden Era of Swing, there are songs to address your every desire, there is room for all your dirty deeds and time for you to unwind with a refined beverage.
BARRELHOUSE BLUES
Please note, on this particular evening we do have a Fringe show performance with Jessie Gordon (Barrelhouse Blues) at 7 to 8 pm. If you would like to attend both shows, firstly please book your ticket through the Fringe ticketing link (below) which will entitle you to a 30% discount on this late night event, Dirty Jazz.
