The awesome Clare Bowditch comes to Geelong on her Modern Day Addiction Tour in support of her new album Modern Day Addiction, out 13 August 2010.

Its been a long time coming but Clare Bowditchs fourth studio album, Modern Day Addiction (out 13 August 2010), is very much worth the wait. Modern Day Addiction is a contagious, satirical, yet heart-achingly tender album about humanity and the eternal search for meaning in a world of quick, delicious fixes. It stands as a companion on the journey for anyone whos ever asked the question Surely there must be more? followed by the statement If so, great, Ill pop back for it once Ive finished reading this article about absolute-rubbish-that-somehow-has-me-transfixed-to-the-screeneveryone SHUT UP!

Im concentrating As Clare tells it (and who knows if shes telling the truth? Have you noticed how all her stories these days begin with I woke up one morning?) I woke up one morning and my heart was broken (just in the usual, everyday way) and all I wanted was a muffin, and a tall glass of combined coffee and Jagermeister, even though I was neither hungry, nor thirsty, which prompted the thought Hmm, how very interesting! Perhaps theres an album in here somewhere? Thus began my extensive and exhaustive research-project into the topic of Everyday Addiction and the Human Condition.

Oh the reading list was endless, I tell you, Ive barely left the local-newsagency since In a most enjoyable and surprising way, Modern Day Addiction also aims to celebrate and question the modern world that produced it. The only way to tell a story THIS BIG is to gather a chops-heavy band of eight around you (aka The New Slang) including three incredible back-up singers (Clares oft-referred to Lady Garden), a small plane-full of instruments, sing-along lyric sheets, and hit the road. Hard. (Were talking some of Australias finest venues: Melbournes Forum, Sydneys Metro Theatre, Hobarts Ca$ino !$!) For old-fashioned value, Modern Day Addiction can be pre-ordered from www.clarebowditch.com where you will get a limited edition digi-pack personally signed by Clare, a poster and your choice of any one of her previous three albums delivered digitally for free!

Or if you are planning on buying tickets from any of the online ticket outlets below, you will also have the option of pre-ordering the album to be delivered at a later date, all in one convenient transaction. As a final masterstroke, Clare is throwing in FREE! the unique chance for you and some mates to hang out with her, and her Lady Garden, pre-show, for a dash of personalised audience-participation tutelage (this is where they teach you the tricky parts to their songs. Dance moves excluded from this offer, except in rare circumstancesOH WHAT THE HEY! ). Visit www.clarebowditch.com to register and become a fully integral part of the bestest concerts ever!

Modern Day Addiction is not a product but a handcrafted, heartcrafted masterpiece. Its a response to the issues we all face, cosmetic surgery, eating disorders, influenza, status anxiety and pathological consumerism. Topics that could be thought of as worthy, earnest and dry, Clare Bowditch manages to sex up, rock out and wrap up in warmth and a human heartbeat and a cheeky, very grown up, irreverence.

Modern Day Addiction crackles with raw passion and wisdom with Bowditch both the scientist and the guinea pig. The message is yes; we are all flawed and broken. But were good enough, better than this and not alone. Experiencing the album, the listener feels immersed in clarity and embraced in Bowditchs arms as she whispers truth and comfort. She helps us make our armour, and tells us we must wear ourselves. As the music soothes we are released with the knowledge that its not just us trying to get to a better place.

Officially released August 13th 2010, you can now pre-order your copy of Modern Day Addiction with your concert ticket in either a digital format ($15 additional cost) or a physical Collectors Edition with a limited edition deluxe packaging and bonus poster ($25 additional cost, including P&H).
