Have you ever wondered what it takes to sit on a board? Or even what it is that a board member is required to do?

Are you curious about how people are elected to the board of an arts organisation?

Here’s your chance to find out the essential skills required for anyone who aspires to sit on a board, or current directors who need a refresher.

This workshop will cut through the often-intimidating jargon and bureaucratic rigmarole that we associate with boards and get right to the core of what a board does, how it does it, and why they can be an important part of your arts career.

Confused about a board member’s obligation to be financially literate? This workshop will go over financial statements in easy to understand language that will skill you up on all things financial.

Get a better understand of how to draw a line between management and the board and learn about the importance of strategic oversight for a not-for-profit organisation.

Fancy an opportunity to network with board directors of arts organisations across SA?

Quash any preconceptions of what goes on in arts-focused boardrooms when Lisa Bishop CEO Music SA leads this workshop, featuring insights from multi-skilled expert board directors including

• Peter Hanlon Chair SA Film Corporation

• Maria Amato Director Australian Institute of Music and Reeperbahn Festival

• Nicholas Linke Chair of SALA and Restless Dance

• Anne Wiberg Arts Consultant and Chair of Music SA

• Lisa Bishop FAICD Deputy Chair Adelaide Fringe

NOTE this is Music SA’s annual fundraising event as a not-for-profit organisation that provides free services to contemporary musicians.
