A mini festival showcasing global musical traditions right in our back yard

Presented by prolific folk duo Mt Kazoo, this mini festival will be the first of its kind in Adelaide to showcase global musical traditions right in our back yard. Here you’ll experience unique instruments, sounds and stories played by top-tier musicians hailing from Japan to Ukraine, as well as those with roots in traditional Australian and colonial music. Whether you hope to be enchanted by otherworldly melodies or just want to throw down in a hoedown, this celebration of diversity and culture should not be missed.

Glenn Skuthorpe is a totally captivating First Nations singer storyteller who has shared local and international stages with legends such as Steve Earle and Archie Roach.

Alex from Magic Steam Train is inspired by acoustic folk traditions, gypsy punk and street music. With history in prolific bands Runebilly Rattle and Dr Piffle and the Burlap Band, he’ll be sure to rouse your spirits!

Global world ensemble Yellow Blue Bus thrust the ancient 65-stringed Ukrainian bandura into new realms, from experimental rock to dance music and they’ll definitely bring the 21st century Cossack energy.

Internationally award-winning Japanese shamisen player and vocalist Noriko Tadano will be bringing her fusion of traditional and modern styles to the Folk Fest.
