Wanda Jackson the first queen of rockabilly, is leaving her native Nashville to tour Australia. After cutting her first record and touring with Elvis as a school girl, Wanda has had an amazing career spanning decades. She will sing all her hits ranging from Let's Have a Party, Funnel of Love, Mean Mean Man and Fujiyama Mama. She is the most requested Rock ' Roll Rockabilly legend of them all. Joined by The Satellites.

Its 1955 and Wanda as a school girl cuts her first recording session in Nashville and then graduates from college. Promoter Bob Neal is looking for a girl singer to work with Elvis and she is booked second on the bill to play at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. On the same show is Charlie Feathers and Bud Deckelman. Wanda had never heard of Elvis Presley, but during his performance she thought the place was going to burn down.

By this stage Tom Jackson, Wanda's dad was looking at Elvis (The Hillbilly Cat) as a major problem for the safe-being of his little girl. When the show moved on to the next town Tom made sure that Wanda didn't ride in Elvis' Cadilliac.Despite Tom's ministeringsin each town on the tour Elvis would take Wanda to a movie, always walking hand in hand and flirting flatout. Quote from Wanda:"If it got any heavier than that,Wanda ain't saying".

Rock 'n' Roll was sweeping the country and Wanda was introducing moreRock 'n' Roll &Rockabillysongs into her sets, but on this tour it didn't help because the crowd only had eyes for Elvis. One night after the show Elvis took Wanda hometo Audubon Drive and played someof his new Sun records along with his favourite blues tunes. Here he told her what she needed to do. Rock 'n' Roll was the future and Elvis put her right on track.

While her contempories were singing about Lip Stick On Collars, Wanda's music strutted and kicked arse, influencing a generation of 50's female singers including our own Betty McQuade, Beverley Dick and Judy Cannon. WandaJackson's Credo in life is simple:

When I start eruptin' aint nothing gonna make me stop
