For the very first time with his new band, featuring Jak Housden (Whitlams, Tim Minchin), Mick Skelton (Baby Animals, Thirsty Merc), Fenix Martinez (Boney M, Guy Sebastian) and Ian Tilley (Boom Crash Opera), Steve Balbi strides to the crease and takes guard at the Bridge Hotel Rozelle on Friday 26 July; support to be advised.

The year 2018 was momentous for the composer, performer and producer, Steve Balbi, for various reasons. In April he recorded the single 'Winners' with Jessica Irwin, which was a worldfirst release using Psykinetic's ground breaking eye-control music software, Atmosphere.

Just three months later, Balbi composed and produced the new Fox Test Cricket Theme. Orchestrated by George Ellis and recorded with members from the Sydney Symphony, this new theme promises to become profoundly entrenched within the Australian consciousness throughout the 2018/19 summer, just as Channel Nine Test Cricket theme has been an iconic symbol of the Australian summer for the past 40 years.

Indeed, he has since composed the Themes for 'The Big Break' and 'Cricket Tragic' programs as well, meanwhile a hip hop and rock version of the Test Theme, featuring Brett Lee on bass, will be launched throughout the summer of 2018/19.

In the studio, Balbi continued work on his new album, Humans, which is due toward the latter end of 2019; produced Glenn Shorrock's new album of Little River Band songs, the first single from which, 'The Night Owls', dropped on December 10; and produced the debut EP from a promising, young, blistering two-piece brats out of Adelaide, Fyre Byrd.

Of course, on October 26, casting a renewed focus upon the notion humanity, in riff and verse, he released his first single in more than three years, 'Modern Love', which debuted at #3 on the iTunes Rock Chart.

Having secured a support spot with Midnight Oil at the Big Red Bash in Birdsville this July, the tone 'n' rhythm has been set for an equally remarkable 2019.

Don't miss the full band on the back of its trip to central Australia, as the creative chameleons mine a kaleidoscope of life at the margins, transcending rock and pop while coalescing sentimentality and soul at the Bridge Hotel on Friday 26 July 2019.
