The Speak Satellite Festival is an event that showcases forward thinking artists and is an initiative of the
Wollongong Conservatorium of Music to present new and diverse music in the Illawarra. Over three nights,
some of Australia's most progressive young musicians will congregate in Wollongong to share sounds and
ideas; to connect the past and possibility.
Head to North Gong Pub to celebrate the birth of Speak Satellite. Afro-beat collective Lyre Birdland and
progressive soul outfit The Baldwins will bring the tunes, you bring the moves.
Lyre Byrdland
LYRE BYRDLAND are a 10-piece instrumental, groove machine of eclectic beats to get your body moving. Real-
life music bursting with Afro-Funk, Reggae-Dub, Rock & Soul and anything else that makes people dance,
creating a unique sound that is simultaneously reassuring and familiar like a comfy old sweater yet striking and
fresh like a new pair of jeans.
Baldwins
Baldwins is an eight-piece progressive-soul band hailing from Sydney, Australia. Taking from the rhythmic
groove of neo-soul/hip- hop, the textures of electronica, and lush jazz-tinged harmony, these inspirations have
amalgamated in an unconventional sound that is entirely their own.
