Soulful, expressive, intelligent songs from Melbourne-born singer and songwriter Shelley Segal and guitarist-songwriter-singer Adam Levy, guitar player for Norah Jones, Tracey Chapman and Ani Difranco. Presenting the exclusive Sydney appearance by Shelley & Adam, whose eight song 2013 collaboration entitled 'Little March' released by True Music, is an exquisite example of the art of songwriting and singing. Bespoke songs that traverse jazz, folk and blues with tender affection and great artistry.

Shelley's vocals are cut through with a rich, edgy knowingness, Adam's guitar playing spare, cool and elegant. Then they'll swap roles, Adam singing one of his own compositions with backing by Shelley. A beautiful symbiotic partnership, hand-made immediacy wrapped in a sophisticated urbanity. Shelley's voice can be fiercely upfront, as heard on her previous release, 'An Atheist Album', and its sheer power is never far from the surface on these new songs. But in keeping the mood tender and restrained for the most part, Shelley and Adam create a sound-world of tension and occasional release that weaves an enthralling spell.

SHELLEY SEGAL grew up in a musical household. She began singing at the age of three, then writing and performing at eleven with her father's Jewish wedding band, before performing and writing across a broad range of styles including pop, folk, jazz, blues, rock and reggae. She has been performing her original music around Melbourne and internationally for the last ten years. Her first release was in 09, an EP produced by the renowned Josh Abrahams at Fishtank Studios.

In 2010 she wrote and recorded a song with world-renowned DJ Carl Cox. The track, 'Chemistry' was a drum and bass single from his latest album 'All Roads Lead To The Dance Floor'. Segal has performed with Cox at Stereosonic Festival and at the iconic Billboard. In November 2011 a remix of 'Chemistry' spent two weeks at number one on the techno charts.

Then came 'An Atheist Album' and worldwide recognition. Shelley had become involved in secular activism, despite her father being the president of a local synagogue. The songs on the album are a passionate response to dogmatic belief, inequality, religious oppression and the idea that only the devout can be grateful and good.

ADAM LEVY has been guitarist of choice for a number of incredible performers, including Norah Jones (with whom he played and toured for more than six years), Ani Difranco, Tracy Chapman, Rosanne Cash, Lisa Loeb and more. He's released several of his own albums, the latest being The Heart Collector, praised by No Depression as "a great album overflowing with warm and soulful songs that enchant the ears and captivate the heart". As an educator he's written many articles for Guitar Player magazine and Acoustic Guitar magazine, and is the author of Jazz Guitar Sight Reading (book) and Play the Right Stuff (book and DVD).

In Shelly's own words, "Adam is an incredible guitarist and singer-songwriter.... Adam has worked with Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman and my favourite artist in the world, Ani Difranco! I was very lucky to get to work with him.... I highly recommend that you have a listen to Adam's solo stuff. It's really lovely. It's hard to pick a favourite but I really love 'A Promise to California' and 'Got My Joy': We wrote the album in New York and recorded it in Los Angeles, December 2012. The record was produced by the awesomely talented, Grammy award winning S.Husky H skulds at his downtown LA oasis, Groundlift Studios. We had such a lovely time making the record together, relaxed fun, lots of laughs, coffees and meals together. It really added to the feel of the record".

TONY FLOYD is a Melbourne based drummer and member of 'Things of Stone and Wood.' The band has toured nationally and internationally appearing alongside Hot House Flowers, Midnight Oil, Bjork, Hall & Oats, The Jayhawks and The Black Sorrows and have a Top 10 Gold Album, ARIA for best debut single and ARIA nominated debut album under their belts. Tony has played or recorded for renowned artists such as The Jextet, Vince Jones, Ruby Carter Oxo Cubans, The Black Sorrows, Men at Work, Deborah Conway, Merril Bainbridge, Mark Seymour, Joe Camilleri, Christine Sullivan, Vincent Herring, Lee Konitz, Paul Grabowski, Eathe Kitt, Kate Cebrano, Wilson, Greg Champion, Don Burrows, Graham Lyle, Tony Gould, Ben Robertson and Linda Cable.

JONATHAN ZION is a Melbourne based bassist / producer who is also a member of the Luke Howard Trio, Anton Delecca Quartet and plays regularly with Ian Moss as well as appearing with many other artists including Lior.
