As part of a cultural exchange supported by the Australian embassy in Brazil, Monash University is proud to present Lula, Carlos and Rodrigo Galvao with Australian musicians Doug deVries, Rob Burke and Simon Starr.

Some of the music performed will be Bossa Nova, Samba and Choro composed by Jobim, Pixinguigha, Guinga and original compositions. Lula Galvao is considered one of the ten best Brazilian guitar/electric guitar players by Guitar Player magazine, Lula Galvão has performed/recorded/composed for leading Brazilian artists like Caetano Veloso, Guinga, Rosa Passos, Fátima Guedes, and Leila Pinheiro. Carlos Galvao is the currently the head of the International Courses of Summer of the School of Music of Brasilia, as well as for the Director of the Center of Education Professional-School of Music of Brasilia. He is a respected bass player having performed with the legends of Brazilian music as well as an ethnomusicologist and composer. Doug deVries is one of the leading exponents of Brazilian music in Australia. Highly respected in both Australia and Brazilia – he has recorded and performed extensively throughout Brazil and Australia. Rob Burke is the coordinator of Jazz and popular studies at Monash University. Rob has performed throughout Australia and overseas including Brazil in February 2007 with Doug deVries.
