COMEDY AT THE BASEMENT FEAT. PETER BERNER & DAVE EASTGATE
Comedy at The Basement is a comedy event emanating from Sydney's iconic jazz club, The Basement, in Circular Quay. Twice a month, Comedy at The Basement will host the funniest stand-up comedians in the country. It's the only place to catch world-class comedy in Sydney's CBD, and at one of the city's most beloved venues.
For the third edition of Comedy at the Basement, we have a line up so loaded with talent that it will collapse in on itself under its own weight, creating a black hole of comedy that will suck the laughter out of you.
The headline act for the evening is Peter Berner. Without doubt one of Australia's most popular comedic entertainers. Peter says the things other comics tiptoe around with jokes that hit their targets time and time again. Peter hosted 'BackBerner' and 'Einstein Factor' on ABC, as well as the 'Peter Berner Experiment' on Triple M. Peter has been on TV and radio for over a decade but he is at his best, live and onstage - uncensored and hands down hilarious.
"... hysterically funny" - Chortle
The MC for the show is the high energy, rock 'n roll comedian - Dave Eastgate. Dave is one of the most in-demand comedians in the country.
Dave has written for and starred in ABC1 sketch comedy series', The Elegant Gentleman's Guide to Knife Fighting and Wednesday Night Fever, where Dave was also the Musical Director of the show he also starred in the award winning, "A Moody Christmas" and acclaimed sequel, "The Moodys". Dave's multiple talents have seen him secure spots as the warm up act for shows such as The Voice and X-Factor. He might very well be the hardest working comic in Australian show business. Dave is a rare performer who can walk out in front of any crowd and destroy them with laughter.
"...ingenious, high-octane fanfare not to be missed. "
Edinburgh Festivals Magazine UK
"F*#%ing beautiful, man!"- The Late, Great Robin Williams
Supports for the evening include:
Luke Heggie - Sharp, sardonic, and hilarious, what 2010 Raw Comedy winner Luke Heggie brings to the stage is comedy at its leanest and meanest. Stripped of unnecessary verbiage or theatricality, this is 'funny' condensed to a diamond-hard edge, delivered with ripsnorting rhetorical efficiency.
"Deadpan genius...one of the funniest stand ups around." - Sydney Morning Herald
Cameron James x Jared Jekyll - When two of the most insufferably talented young comedians in Australia come together as a duo, you get Jekyll x James - ridiculous but clever comedy where anything can and will happen. Having performed and toured around the country, performing to sold out houses in three festival shows, "Nite Zoo", "Paradise" and "Cactus Blastus" - they come to Comedy at The Basement with a special one off greatest hits set.
"If these guys keep it up they will be huge." - YAWP Comedy Mag
Jennifer Wong - With her clean, observational comedy, Jennifer Wong has performed solo stand-up comedy shows at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Sydney Fringe Festival, Perth International Comedy Festival, and Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Jennifer was a writer on Good News Week, writer and social media producer on Can of Worms, and editor of the Rove website RoveDaily.
"Smart wordplay and elegant cheek." - The Sydney Morning Herald
