Melbourne songwriter Ben Wright Smith is excited to announce the release of his brand new single titled “No One”. Recorded in Melbourne at The Aviary, the single was co-produced by Ben and Oscar Dawson (HOLY HOLY, Ali Barter) and sees Ben once again showing why he is one of Australia’s most promising songwriters. To support the single release Ben will be hitting the road, playing full band shows in Melbourne & Sydney, and solo shows in Wagga Wagga, Newcastle, Brisbane and Toowomba.

"No One" sees Ben continuing to carve out his own unique sound of alt-folk and indie rock. This was best described by Triple J's Richard Kingsmill last year as "a great shuffling beat and lots of west coast vibes". When discussing the song Ben says "I wanted to write a song about anonymity. It's that feeling you get walking through a big new city for the first time. It's like seeing a whole world existing without you".

In July 2014 Ben released an EP to a swathe of great reviews. He received airplay on community radio both in Australia and the US, and spins on Australian Youth Network Triple J & Triple J Unearthed. Over the course of the year Ben gained a lot of supporters in Australia, playing shows with the likes of D.D. Dumbo, Holy Holy, and Bertie Blackman. But it is not just Australia getting excited by Ben Wright Smith. Having been invited to play the Americana Festival in Nashville twice, Ben has also caught the eye of Nylon Magazine and American Songwriter as one to watch.

2014 was a big year for Ben. He was the winner of the highly esteemed Australia Council Nashville Songwriting Residency grant with the Australia Council saying, "Ben's talent, personality and drive made him the perfect candidate for this program". The grant helped him travel to Nashville for 3 months to play shows and work with highly regarded ex-pat producer Mark Moffatt (The Saints, The Divinyls, Neil & Tim Finn). Upon returning home, Ben was selected to be a participant in the APRA "50 Songs In 5 Days" Songwriting Sessions, which saw him co-write songs with Grammy-Winning Producer M-Phases and Triple J Unearthed High winner Asta

2015 will see Ben playing shows around Australia and spending time in the studio working on his upcoming album due for release later in 2015. Stay tuned.
