Founded by local NZ legends the Kora brothers, Reggae band L.A.B have continued to kick goals, becoming a mainstay in the New Zealand tour and festival circuit, performing at festivals including Homegrown, One Love and Rhythm and Vines, as well as supporting acts including UB40 and Katchafire.

The five-piece are heading down under to showcase their third album release 'L.A.B III' this November/December. We caught up with the band to get the low down on their Aussie shows.

What's one of your most memorable live performances?

Womad 2020 at New Plymouth in New Zealand. It was our last show just before lockdown happened, and was the first time for L.A.B playing at the Bowl of Brooklands. It's a really iconic place, and the show itself was just magic.

You all live in different parts of NZ, right? What's the most difficult part of working remotely as a band?

Getting together for rehearsals can be difficult, but we make it work with Zoom.

What local acts have you been enjoying lately?

Benee! She's killing it and has such an awesome sound and persona.

Congratulations on your latest single 'In The Air'. Walk us through your inspiration for the track.

Thanks, the tune is inspired by old school 70's grooves, and lyrically a young summer love story.

You're heading down under this December to play a bunch of shows. What are you most looking forward to during the tour?

L.A.B love being on the road and it's always special going to Australia. With a lot of Kiwis residing in Australia, there's a certain energy in the crowd when an NZ band tours there. We're a band that are always playing live, and We can't wait to get back over!
