Astral People and Handsome Tours Present
YUSSEF DAYES
(UK)

Astral People and Handsome Tours are delighted to announce that one of the world's most innovative drummer and producer, Yussef Dayes will be bringing his spectacular live show to Australia this June.

Yussef Dayes pushes beyond genre restrictions melding together a mix of Jazz, 70s funk, Senegalese percussion and UK grime. His stage presence is second to none.

The South East London born and raised artist has always been deeply involved in jazz, developing his sound and practicing non-stop since age four when he got his first drum kit. At school he was influenced by grime and hip-hop and at home he would play along to his dad’s jazz vinyl with his jungle producing brother Kareem in one room, while his mother listened to the Beatles and country records in another.

Dayes brought together these varied influences, playing in a three-piece afrobeat and rock-influenced spiritual jazz group, before cementing himself in the UK scene with the birth of award winning jazz-funk duo Yussef Kamaal feat. fellow Londoner Kamaal Williams.

Since then his solo journey have flourished with the release of singles such as ‘Love Is The Message’ in 2018 and AA single "DUALITY" in 2019, as well as curating and sound tracking the Louis Vuitton dinner show for Paris Men’s Fashion Week. His latest album 'What Kinda Music" released in 2020 was a joint release with fellow South East Londoner Tom Misch, and was received with global acclaim.

This June Yussef Dayes will be bringing his unique sound to the Australian shores, kicking things off at the The Princess Theatre in Brisbane before lighting things up at Vivid LIVE at The Sydney Opera House, and wrapping things up nicely with two shows in Melbourne, one already SOLD OUT for RISING Festival and a 2nd just announced at  170 Russell.

This is one not to be missed!
