Wolfjay - Together Tour (Melbourne)
WOLFJAY launches their new EP Together supported by Beau Lightning and Tamara And The Dreams
Melbourne-based artist Wolfjay has just revealed their stunning new single ‘Together’ – produced by Wolfjay themselves and Hayden Jeffery (Woodes, Golden Vessel).
Taking cues from the likes of The Postal Service, Blink-182 and Porter Robinson, ‘Together’ opens with atmospheric beats and synths, before dropping down into its melancholic verses; flickering with splashes of pizzicato violin, subtle guitar and percussion. Endearing melodies float fluently above, building gently into its soaring and infectious chorus, as Wolfjay shines a light on their journey with gender identity.
Wolfjay expands on the motivation behind the track:
“I wrote ‘Together’ the day Australia voted to legalise same-sex marriage in the nation-wide plebiscite, laying on the floor in a recording studio with someone I found fascinating and incredible and lovely. We drank prosecco until there wasn’t any left and took turns being honest with each other. ‘Together’ is about having the freedom of being absorbed by the warmth and weight of being close to someone, sharing the same space for a moment and letting it consume you, finally letting go of every stressful thing that’s trying to steal that moment away — forgetting the future together”.
‘Together’ is the first offering lifted from a trilogy series of tracks to be released in the coming weeks. To coincide with the release, Wolfjay will traverse the East Coast with their live show, which includes a performance at BIGSOUND.
Previous singles have been supported by the likes of Australian radio stations triple j, triple j Unearthed and community radio, as well as tastemaker blogs Pilerats, Purple Sneakers, Acid Stag, Sound Doctrine and Indie Obsessive (USA).
