The Americana Music Association of Australia proudly presents “WALKERTHON”, a benefit concert to support, celebrate and honour the work of singer songwriter Jason Walker.

Singer. Songwriter. Troubadour. Producer. Multi-instrumentalist. Mentor. Author. Friend. All of these words are used so frequently in our day to day lives, however they would rarely be used all together to describe one person, however in the case of Jason Walker, these words make up but a few that describe the man. Whether he be behind the microphone as a solo artist, leading the band in the many incarnations from The Last Drinks to The Tender Mercies, or playing some of the best pedal steel in country music, Walker has been a highly respected and valued member of the music community for over 25 years.

Now, he needs our help. Through a brush with ill health, Jason needs a bit of healing and therapy to get ‘back in the groove’. And as we know, this type of therapy does not come free, but to an artist, it can help get their craft, career and livelihood back on track.

So, clear you diaries for Friday June 28^th 2019, when the Americana Music Association of Australia proudly presents “WALKERTHON”, a benefit concert to support, celebrate and honour the work of singer songwriter Jason Walker. The concert will take place at the iconic Petersham Bowling Club and tickets are now on sale.

The “WALKERTHON” list of performers reads like a alt-country music “who’s-who” list, featuring Shane Nicholson Kevin Bennett, Jenny Queen, Jeremy Edwards, Ben Leece, Peta Caswell, Mark Lucas, Mindy Sotiri, Sam Shinazzi, Peter V Fenton, Abby Dobson, all of whom will be backed by Walker’s current band The Tender Mercies. Rumour has it there might even be a few more names added to the lineup and announced very soon!

Proceeds from the sale of tickets will go directly to the Jason Walker “Twang Trust”, wherein the funds will be able to help with stroke recovery and mounting medical bills. And those unable to attend, but would like to help, there will be other ways to donate announced in coming weeks.
