URBAN SPREAD - the crew who put on epic burb-parties for Allday, DZ Deathrays, In Hearts Wake, Northlane, Delta Riggs, The Bennies - are launching a red-hot SUMMER SERIES across their venues, bringing the summer party vibes to the burbs in a huge way.

URBAN SPREAD have heard the rumble of music lovers' growing demand for a local alternative night on the city outskirts and booked in an epic summer of shows by some of the biggest names in rock, indie, hardcore, alt-rock, punk, blues and roots, folk and hip hop. Coveted artists, DJs and late night city vibes, just down the road: that's the brief for URBAN SPREAD SUMMER SERIES and if the first announcement is any indication, we're on like Donkey Kong.

Setting a quality tone for the SUMMER SERIES artist list that will be revealed across the hottest months, URBAN SPREAD amp things up with a three-date run with The Rubens. Spruiking second album Hoops, the follow up to their certified-platinum, self-titled debut album (which landed at an impressive #3 on the ARIA Album Charts, earned them a nomination for 'Best Album' at the j Awards, clocked up three ARIA Award nominations and an APRA Award) The Rubens are currently on their biggest tour ever, and stoked to be bringing the party to the fringe.

Having played one of the highlight sets at Splendour, and with Hoops debuting at #2 on the ARIA charts, The Rubens are warming up for URBAN SPREAD by doing a lazy 25+ date national tour [they're already onto their second Forum show]. Along for the ride is Saskwatch: having just released their game-changing record Sorry I Let It Come Between Us, the now-6-piece are going through a watershed moment, shaking up their soul reputation and heading into untested waters with a collection of songs alternatively dubbed "raw" and "sparse", a fascinating direction for this much-loved outfit.

Opening the night for The Rubens and Saskwatch will be Harts, who, according to Music Feeds, "validated every single breathless comparison to Jimi Hendrix, disco legend Nile Rodgers and Prince (who found Harts online and invited him over to jam)" at his recent BigSound show. You better get in early for this one!

This summer Urban Spread is presented by the Transport Accident Commission as part of their Towards Zero vision of zero deaths and serious injuries on our roads. The TAC will be engaging with young Victorians within the music community and the iconic Vanessa bus and crew will be on board ensuring music lovers plan ahead, look after their mates and get home safely.
