Australian guitarist/composer/educator Tim Jago has been residing in the US for the past 10 years. His infectious, groove-based music and blues-driven playing is surely not to be missed.
Throughout his musical career Tim has performed and recorded extensively across Australia and The United States. He has led and co-led groups at jazz festivals including The York Jazz and Soul Festival in Western Australia, The Perth International Jazz Festival, The Melbourne International Jazz Festival and the Miami Downtown Jazz Festival.
He was announced as a semi-finalist in the inaugural Wes Montgomery International Jazz Guitar Competition and has performed with a host of world-class musicians including Patti Austin, Terence Blanchard, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chick Corea, Dave Douglas, Gloria Estefan, Wycliffe Gordon, Dave Liebman, Bobby McFerrin, Steve Miller, James Morrison, Danillo Perez, Chris Potter, and Arturo Sandoval, to name a few. Tim has released three albums with his trio, The Grid. He has recorded in the U.S. as a member of many bands, including Troy Roberts’ Nu-Jive.
While Tim is back in Perth briefly, it is a rare treat to see him lead his group consisting of the top-of-the-crop world class musicians we have on our doorstep. Tim will present a mixture of new compositions and old favourites, featuring long-standing collaborator of Tim’s, the incredible Ben Vanderwal on drums, also featuring amazing local legends Tom O’Halloran on piano and Karl Florisson on bass.
