Event Details

The Running Joke, Sydney’s #1 Comedy Night on TripAdvisor, has teamed up with Yours and Owls to bring a night of stand-up comedy to Canberra on Friday May 14th.

Headlining we’ve got one of Australia’s hottest up-and-coming musical comedians in Sarah Gaul. She’s the star of critically acclaimed film ‘Hot Mess’ on Netflix, she’s appeared on Tonightly with Tom Ballard and was recently selected to perform at the Sydney Comedy Festival Gala in 2021!

Her original cabaret piece ‘Good Grief’ won the Best New Original Work Award at the Short + Sweet Cabaret Festival in Melbourne, and was a finalist in the International Cabaret Competition.

In support we’ve got Tom Cashman & Suren Jayemanne.

Tom Cashman is one of the most in-demand acts in Australian comedy, a frequent performer at The Comedy Store, Sydney and comedy clubs around the country. He’s written for Tonightly with Tom Ballard, performed at the Sydney Comedy Festival Gala, Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow and Sydney Comedy Festival showcase tour.

Suren Jayemanne is another favourite of Australian comedy, originally from Melbourne and now calling Sydney home, he’s appeared on ABC’s Comedy Up Late, Tonightly with Tom Ballard, and ABC’s Fresh Comedy specials. He’s supported Vir Das, Neel Kolhatkar & Aaron Chen on tour, in addition to being selected to represent NSW in the AFTRS National Talent Camp in 2020.

All of this with resident host and tracksuit enthusiast, Daniel Muggleton. His debut special ‘Let’s Never Hang Out’ aired on ABC Comedy in 2020, and he’s been hand-picked as tour support for Jim Jefferies, Steve Hofstetter & Alex Williamson. Fresh off a run of sold-out shows and 5 star reviews at comedy festivals around Australia, he’s one of the best MCs in Australia so don’t miss him in Canberra!

Show starts at 8pm at The Cultural Centre, Kambri at ANU. Bookings are essential as this will sell-out!

Early bird tickets $25, with final release $35.
