Duke of George presents

The New Orleans Heritage Jazz Band

The New Orleans Heritage Jazz Band is coming to the Duke of George for a special lunchtime show on Sunday 9 January! This one-off event is to celebrate the Duke's first weekend back of the new year & to welcome Don Bancroft (trumpet & vocals) back to the band after a much needed break.

The New Orleans Heritage Jazz Band is a creation of the mid-eighties when the early jazz music scene in Perth was at its most buoyant. The band was put together from musicians from various jazz bands at the time. The concept was that the band would present and play authentic material typical of the free-flowing, pulsating, revivalist New Orleans jazz style heard in numerous venues throughout the Crescent City and particularly Preservation Hall.

The band’s policy is simple: we all play or we don’t play! That means that Heritage has had almost the same line-up since the start; Don Bancroft (trumpet & vocals), Bob Benton (trombone), Peter Groos (reeds), Dave Cowie (keys), Rod Evans (banjo & guitar), John Healy (double bass & vocals) & Nige Ridgway (drums & vocals).

Tickets will be available for purchase at the door unless already sold out!
