Melbourne Spoken Word invites you to the opening of The 2019 Melbourne Spoken Word & Poetry Festival Opening Night. We're excited to open two and a half weeks of spoken word performances, poetry readings, slams, open mics, workshops and international guests. 

Opening night features a special line-up including one of Australia's highest-calibre spoken word artists, Luka Lesson, plus Singapore's Stephanie Dogfoot Chan; former Australia Poetry Slam Champ, Arielle Cottingham; Stella Prize Vice-Chair and author of 'A Leaving' (Vagapond Press), Eleanor Jackson; selected in five of the last six Best Australian Poems, Andy Jackson; Melbourne Spoken Word Prize winner, Natalie Jeffreys and up & coming poet and Slamlamadingdong Grand-Slam runner-up (by 0.1 of a point!), Zaynab G Farah
