Making themselves a staple in the Canadian country music scene over the past five years, The Dungarees, comprised of James Murdoch (bass/vocals), Robb Angus (guitar/vocals), Kiron Jhass (guitar/vocals) Andrew DeGroot (steel guitar) and Paul Bain (drums) have a definitive mandate for their music – take the undeniable lyrical styling, twangy telecaster and steel guitar they love from classic country and inject it with harmony, modern intensity, and pop sensibility to make it all their own.
This mandate has made The Dungarees irresistible to fans and industry alike. With Murdoch, Anderson and Shillabeer all recognized by the Canadian Country Music Award nominations for their respective instruments, the band as a whole has been honoured with three 2018 ACMA Awards for Group of the Year, Video of the Year, Rising Star and Song of the year in 2018.
In January of 2017, The Dungarees signed with Australia based label, Social Family Records, joining a proud team of award-winning country artists.
Riding the momentum of the 2016 hit 'I'm Down’, the band didn't slow down through 2017 with their summer smash 'Anywhere With You', produced by legendary multi-Grammy Award winning producer Paul Worley. The track skyrocketed up the KIX Country charts, landing in the Top 10 and peaking at #6 for five weeks straight.
Keeping pace, ‘Don’t Hold Back’, produced by Juno Award winning producer Russell Broom, has a quarter million streams on Spotify and reached the Top-20 on the KIX chart.
The Dungarees have performed on some of Canada’s most celebrated summer festival stages including The Calgary Stampede. In Australia, they have won fans at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, in 2018 and 2019. The band will be returning to Australia to play Gympie Music Muster in August 2019.
The band has also had the honour to be direct support, opening for country music royalty such as Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire, Dwight Yoakam and Alabama.
With their 2019 single coming out hot, there is one thing The Dungarees are sure of – they are not holding anything back this year
