THE BARONS OF TANG "Into the Mouths of Hungry Giants" ALBUM LAUNCH TOUR 2013. With Special Guest Ava Torch

"No band in the land has made a greater impact in a shorter space of time than the manic Melbourne purveyors of 'gypsy deathcore'." - Tony Hillier, Rhythms Magazine.

Gracing stages all over the world, this rag-tag bunch of misfits are slowly building an empire out of gaffa tape and bitumen. Mixing Klezmer and Balkan feels with punk, bent folk music and whatever is lying around the kitchen, these feisty troubadours are constantly striving to innovate. With an arsenal of instruments including bass clarinet, accordion, banjo and double bass, the band is redefining the limits of both "punk" and "world" music. They have toured relentlessly, and played alongside international artists includiing Gogol Bordello, Besh O Drom and The Pogues.

Based in Melbourne, The Barons of Tang have toured across the USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, New Zealand, the UK, as well as playing a stack of shows back home in Australia, including Falls Festival, Peats Ridge, WOMADelaide, Woodford Folk Festival, Desert Festival (NT), The National Folk Festival and Byron Bay Bluesfest. Now launching their new album "Into the Mouths of Hungry Giants" across Australia, Sept/October 2013.

The Barons of Tang brilliantly combine traditional folk music into a modern context with a punk ethos. They exploded on to the RSL's carpark pavilion stage at this year's Blue Mountains Music Festival and also closed out the festival in our Blues Room. Don't miss your chance to jump and sway away on our large dance floor when they come back to the Mountains for their album launch tour.

Ava Torch is sophisticated pop-rock for a sophisticated generation.
When a cabaret chanteuse would like to be a rock-star... Ava Torch is what happens...

Pop with poise. Cabaret but cool. Melodramatic blues blend with girl-group, garage rock, jazz & theatrical lyrics, to make an effortless Torch-rock sound!

Ava Torch is a seductive song bird with lyrics that tell a story. Channeling past divas from Edith Piaf to Debbie Harry, Ava is a welcome change from sappy tween-pop. In a voice that is "emotionally rich" (Keith Gallasch - Real Time Arts Magazine), Ava sings about love with an honesty that is charming, epic & seductive. Aashiya Lauran gallery called Ava "fun, sexy and wonderfully feminine... like an empowered Marilyn Monroe" HOT!

Ava Torch boasts two weeks at #1 on the JJJ Unearthed Chart, airplay on FBI, Eastside, 2ser & Australian Internet Radio.

"Ava commands the stage with authority and menace. The authority derives from what seems endlessly diverse talent and confidence and the menace... well.... She has messages and my god she delivers them." (Musica Viva)

"Never a dull moment" (Sydney online street press)
