Wollongong six-piece, Synthetic Love Machine, announced the first chapter in their career in late 2019, with their evocative demo, ‘Autocar’. The demo revels in rich guitar, synths and vocal harmony arrangements, existing in the same sonic realm as the likes of The Beatles and The Strokes.
After a blockbuster first show in their hometown, with the crowd exceeding 200, SLM have wasted no time in kicking on, recording their debut single ‘Hardly In Control’, ready for release on the 21st February 2020. Recorded at the band’s home studio in Wollongong and mastered by Steve Smart (Cub Sport, Tash Sultana), ‘Hardly In Control’ is a prime example of the band’s refined sense of songwriting and their handle on pop nuance. “We all just kind of fell in love with how happy ‘Hardly In Control’ sounded despite the lyrics being pretty melancholy.” - SLM
Throughout the duration of the year, Synthetic Love Machine intend to continue to produce new music with a DIY ethos, with touring planned across the east coast of Australia, culminating in an EP towards the end of 2020. With planned collaborations and a prolific work ethic, SLM continue to push barriers of pop in the national musical landscape
