STARCRAWLER
With Special Guests These New South Whales
Frontier Touring are excited to announce Californian rock’n’roll collective Starcrawler have added two great Aussie punk bands to the bill as special guests on their upcoming Australian shows. Queensland heavy-punk group VOIID will support in Sydney at Oxford Art Factory on Wednesday 20 July, while These New South Whales – famous for their cult Comedy Central Mockumentary and frenetic energy on stage – will get the crowd roaring in Melbourne at The Espy on Saturday 23 July.
“We’re so excited to come back to Australia next month!!! We love it out there and can’t wait to play with so many amazing bands including VOIID and These New South Whales! See you all soon!!!” – Arrow de Wilde (Starcrawler) “We're so psyched to be supporting Starcrawler in Sydney. This is a huge bucket-list moment for us and we can't wait!" – VOIID “We are so stoked to be playing this show with Starcrawler! Lucky the Espy was recently renovated or it may have collapsed under the weight of this one! Hope the roof is screwed on tight!” – Jamie Timony (These New South Whales)
Starcrawler will also perform at Splendour In The Grass next month and have just unveiled their latest single and music video, ‘She Said’. The track is the second single to be released from their forthcoming formidable major label debut album, SHE SAID, slated for release 16 September via Universal Music Australia – pre-order HERE. Official merch and vinyl pre-orders available HERE.
Tickets to Starcrawler’s Australian headline shows are on sale now via frontiertouring.com/starcrawler.
Having previously opened for major international gods of rock the Foo Fighters, Spoon, The Distillers + many more, Starcrawler are a band at the top of their game. Led by lead singer Arrow De Wilde and her cathartic energy, the band will showcase their unique on-stage charisma performing hits from their 2019 sophomore album Devour You, including ‘No More Pennies’, ‘Bet My Brains’ and ‘You Dig Yours’. 2019 also saw the release of their cover of the Ramones classic ‘Pet Sematary’, the lead track from the ‘Pet Sematary’ (Music from the Motion Picture) film soundtrack.
Brisbane-based garage-punk band VOIID cemented their colossal force in the Australian punk scene with their milestone signing to Melbourne label Damaged Records. Formed in 2015 and made up of lifelong friends Anji Greenwood (Vocals), Kate McGuire (Guitar), Antonia Hickey (Bass) and Jasmine Cannon (Drums), the band's latest EP Socioanomaly (2020) showcases their strongest writing to date, with tracks like ‘Sour’, ‘Hell’ and most recent single ‘Bug’ praised by the likes of Rolling Stone Australia and triple j for their inclusion of “important, razor-sharp and uncompromising” stories – Abby Butler, triple j.
‘VOIID have literally taken every show they've ever played and completely made it their own, headliners or not.’ – themusic.com.au
‘VOIID boast a loud and entertaining collection of head banging punk-rock made to mosh along to.’ – Music Is My Muse
These New South Whales – the band – are one of Australia’s most revered punk acts. But they also make ground-breaking comedy TV, and they star in it. Real band on stage, real band on record, heightened alter-ego band on screen. Their first two LPs, You Work For Us (2017) and I Just Do What God Tells Me To Do (2019), were charged with the same frenzied energy that defines their live show, winning critical praise and legions of global fans who resonated with their powerfully physical and incisive brand of punk.
‘Sydney’s most revered punk band’ – triple j
‘Absolutely irresistible blasts of insistent, art-punk brilliance’ – Kerrang
Known for going full throttle at their live shows, Starcrawler will have Australian fans screaming “please, please, come back to me” when they beg for another taste of their glammed up punk'n’roll energy. Grab your tickets and catch them live on stage along with VOIID and These New South Whales at one of these two not to be missed shows!
