Australian producer and multi-instrumentalist Sonny Grin, might not be someone you recognise at first glance. The 25 year old Sydneysider, real name Alec Brinsmead, has already had an impressive career as a drummer and DJ, and is now stepping into the limelight under this new solo project. Combining the love of engaging and eclectic dance music with his extensive training as a musician, Sonny Grin aims to give audiences a unique live show experience as well as a soundtrack to their house party.  

While studying and living in Canberra, Brinsmead cut his teeth DJing at venues such as Transit Bar, La De Da and Trinity bar, playing alongside the likes of LDRU, Nina Las Vegas, Young Franco, SAFIA and Just A Gent. After finishing his music degree at the ANU, he moved back home to Sydney before launching the multifaceted dance experience that is Sonny Grin in 2018. 

With his first two releases gaining traction on Spotify as well as receiving airtime on Triple J, coupled with sold out debut headline show and a support set to a capacity Oxford Art Factory, 2019 is already proving to be a big year. Returning to Canberra on Saturday the 26th of October with Mondecreen, Lysander and Dana, Sonny Grin will be bringing his high energy, interactive live show to iconic music haven Transit Bar.  

The stylistic blend of house and disco music, combined with the spectacle of wielding multiple instruments is something that separates Sonny Grin as both a producer and a performer - this a show that's not to be missed.
