Ross Henry
After taking some time to work on new music, Sydney-based artist Ross Henry returns with his sweeping new single ‘The Birds and The Breeze’ – recorded and produced by the musician himself at his Leichhardt studio.
Taking cues from the likes of Bonobo, Four Tet and Amon Tobin, ‘The Birds and The Breeze’ is an atmospheric take on experimental-electronica pop. The track ducks and weaves, as it navigates through its intricately layered ambient beats, nature soundscapes and organic instrumentation. Henry’s endearing vocals hover elegantly over the top, piecing together one of his most accomplished works to date.
Henry talks about the meaning behind ‘The Birds and The Breeze’:
“You can hoard all the oxygen in the atmosphere, water in the oceans, write your name in the sky, build a pyramid or two. However, your name will fade over time. Life as it presents itself will transform and keep on rolling into many other embodiments, as it did long before the idea of ‘you’ came about. It’s all quite funny really. Running away from death has become a very serious style of living. Humour is a wonderful blessing”.
Henry’s previous works have been received warmly by worldwide tastemakers including the likes of Beats 1 Radio, triple j, Spotify, MTV, Indie Shuffle (USA), The Wild Honey Pie (USA), Sunset in the Rearview (USA), The Revue (CAN), Stereofox (GER), Acid Stag, Pilerats and Savage Thrills.
In the live arena, Ross has sold out headline shows and shared stages with Bec Sandridge, Dappled Cities, Sparrows, Ngaiire and Kaiit. He’s also performed at King Street Crawl, Sofar Sounds and indie club night parties Rare Finds and MUM (World Bar).
To celebrate the release of ‘The Birds and The Breeze’, Ross Henry will perform a one-off intimate show at Stave’s Brewery, Glebe with supports from Sparrows + Aikonawena.
