REGURGITATOR

Brisbane's REGURGITATOR started in 1994 and quickly established themselves as an articulate and witty purveyor of the Australian music scene - assembling a mishmash of funk, punk, pop, electronics and any other style that stuck to the sides... with unmitigated irony and a geekish nature. After a series of resounding performances they embarked on their first tour of Europe (with Filter) before stopping in Bangkok to record their first album "Tu Plang" (Thai for 'jukebox'). "Tu Plang" was released to a decent reception in Australia and coincided with a tour with The Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1995 and another sold-out headlining tour with Japanese guests the Boredoms. They followed this up with the multi-platinum "Unit" (1997) - an even quirkier mixup with 80s flavours and headed out extensively across Australia, Japan and the US..

The past few years have seen Regurgitator do some superfluous shit. It's all pretty interesting - the costume changes, the gimmicky record and release strategies, the full-album live sets - but tonight they achieved something far more pure. In straight power-trio formation (no spandex onesies, no heavy metal wigs), they performed what could well be the set of their careers. Hearing thousands sing along to I Will Lick Your Arsehole never gets old. "They're a punk band at heart, and one of the finest this country has produced". (Beat Magazine Dec 2012)

Kicking off 2013 in Honk Kong Regurgitator embarked on a new recording exercise leading to album #8 released later that year - Dirty Pop Fantasy. Then heading out on the excellent 2013 Groovin' the Moo regional festival tour, followed by a full blown national Dirty Pop Tour with guests from Portland, Wampire... playing their last show for who knows how long ending an Asia tour in Beijing December 2013 with friends New Pants. Regurgitator then entered into some kind of hiatus... slotting back into hyperdrive late 2015 with the debut release of live album Nothing Less Than Cheap Imitations along with a sold out East coast tour. April 2016 they played Melbourne's infamous Community Cup Reclink charity footy event followed by the huge national Human Distribution tour over Oct/Nov which included a ticket donation to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre. As well as the early 2016 special performance of the first Velvet Underground album at the FRIDAY NIGHTS AT NGV in Melbourne featuring Seja on Keyboard and Chinese musician Mindy Meng Wang on Guzheng Jan 2017 saw them perform this for both the Sydney Festival and Hobart's MONA FOMA. Always time for fun. Regurgitator continue to infuse their live performances with exuberance and mania and their mashup rock and electro vibes.
