Event Details

A live performance reading of extracts from Flinders Lane by Russell Grimwade and Mr Felton’s Bequests by John Poynter. Taking place in the iconic Gershwin Room, a former Dining Hall where many meals were enjoyed by Felton and guests in the hotel.

This talk is presented as part of the Felton Museum. A pop-up contemporary museum celebrating the life of Alfred Felton, shedding light on the little known story of his impact on Melbourne's high art and low living.  Attending 'Readings' is also an invitation to spend time with us in the museum afterwards.

READINGS OF FELTONS BIOGRAPHY

Alfred Felton's contribution to the world of arts and lives of women and children has stretched much farther than one could imagine. He was a man of great fortune and even greater generosity. He had a deep love of art, music and culture, adapting many quirks and practices into his colourful life.

These unlikely events and intimate details of Mr. Felton's years in Melbourne are to be shared through the eyes and voices of Tariro Mavondo and Maude Davey, artistic and progressive women living in Melbourne. On this occasion, they come together to read the insightful notes of a penned legacy in, 'Flinders Lane' written by Russell Grimwade and 'Mr. Felton's Bequest' by John Poynter.

Join us in an iconic location of the hotel to pay homage through the wonderfully written and deeply impactful narrative that are the biographies of Alfred Felton.
