With the texture and tempo of punk rock and the melodies of power pop, pop punk has been around, in one form or another since the early ‘70s but found major mainstream popularity in the post grunge era of the mid to late nineties and early naughties.

Leading the nineties pop punk charge were Green Day, Blink-182, The Offspring, Simple Plan, Sum 41 and Jimmy Eat World with the new decade seeing the genre evolve further with groups like Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and Paramore. In 2021, the majority of these acts maintain modern day relevance and, in some cases, superstar stadium status.

Silverback Touring is excited to present Pop Goes The Punk, a fun, energy packed tribute show paying homage to the era of big hooks, good times and….. wallet chains.

The show features full length live tributes to two of pop punks poster boys, Green Day (performed by Adelaide’s Basket Case) and Blink-182 (performed by Sydney’s Australian Blink-182 show) who both boast some of the biggest anthems of the genre amongst some timeless classics. The party vibe is kept alive with rock DJ, Jordan Adam, and guests, spinning all of the hits and anthems of era.

Pop Goes The Punk is a must for all fans of the genre and the perfect opportunity to celebrate everything nineties and naughties. We could not think of a better way to brush aside some of those pandemic and lockdown blues.
