Quantum space to outer space

Kyla Adams (Graduate Student, University of Melbourne)
@KylaAdams5

From the quantum realm to outer space, physics is weird. The behaviour of matter at small scales can change how some stars end their lives. How drastic can these changes be, and how do we test these theories on Earth?

Kyla Adams is a current Masters student at the University of Melbourne and previously completed an Honours in Astrophysics at Monash University. She participates in various mentoring and outreach programs.

Why you should care about gravitational waves

Jackie Bondell (Education and Public Outreach Coordinator, OzGrav - ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery)
@jtkst10

From the hundred-year-old Einsteinian theory of 'ripples in spacetime' to their recent detection using the most precise tools ever built, gravitational waves have fascinated us. Hear about the science behind them and its implications in the 'real' world.

Jackie Bondell is the Education and Outreach Coordinator for OzGrav, and develops content for public and schools programs. She spent 15 years as a Physics teacher and was the recipient of multiple teaching awards. She holds a Masters Degree in Astrophysics.

Testing Einstein's Relativity using pulsars

Professor Matthew Bailes (Director, ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery, Swinburne University of Technology)
@matthewbailes

Physicists are notoriously inquisitive. Using a combination of ultra-sensitive gravitational wave detectors and radio telescopes, they are probing Einstein's General Theory of Relativity like never before. It's fun, it's fantastic, it's physics!

Professor Matthew Bailes is the Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav) and an ARC Laureate Fellow. He uses radio telescopes to explore gravity with pulsars, and helped discover Fast Radio Bursts.
