PhD

Beginning in early 2019, PhD! exploded onto the Brisbane music scene daring to shatter the illusion of “punk needs to be this” with their distinctive sonic style and sound. Based around that one band with Tom Delonge and the gospel of early skate-punk, PhD! have pockets full of Kleenex and lint and holes, and strive to have more in their pockets than a dirty old tissue. Playing harder than he has any right to (sorry soundies!), drummer Julian Sagan makes sure that everything stays on track and that the songs actually start, and finish, without too much mucking around. Bringing the fuzz, their bassist Liam Watson is recognized for something, maybe? We’re still trying to find out... The rhythm section of PhD! is renowned for playing the songs way too fast while keeping the element of tightness at the forefront of the performance. Guitarist, Matthew Benn can often be found refusing to smile and throwing up the peace sign at photoshoots, and his ability to relate life to Community episodes is second to none. Leading these hooligans is PhD!’s bounciest member, Sydney Gainsforth! While the smallest in stature, Sydney stands out from the group whether it be due to their insanely coloured hair and unforgettable outfits, or because they are physically standing on the other members, which is something they have a habit of doing. PhD! are breathing new life into Brisbane’s Punk Rock scene and show no signs of taking it easy any time soon.

The idea for PhD was born in a skate park late at night by two young emo kids Liam (bass) and (former drummer) Josh who had no musical talent whatsoever; but believed they could conquer the world. Beginning as a two piece band and growing into a 3 piece by gaining Matt (guitar), PhD have now entered their final evolution and settled as a punk quartet by adding Sydney (vocals) to the mix. With the addition of Julian (drums) PhD! have studied abroad and are now officially 50% Canadian, much to Matts ever increasing sadness. With the release of their debut single "PANIC!" PhD blend punk rock, synth and skate punk into a unique formula which somehow both feels like a classic punk track from yesteryear and something that you aren't hip enough to understand.
Mad stage moves and synchronized stage antics, this band know how to get your attention.

3 HOUR FLIGHT are a Brissy-based 4-piece pop punk/easycore band with their hearts set on getting songs stuck in your head. With three out of four of the lads originally from Cairns, the boys made the move to the big city in 2019, where they linked up with local boy Jordan,

freshly recruited as their 2nd guitarist. Since then, they have spent the time honing their craft, writing new material, and getting used to living in a city that actually had fewer crocodiles than people. With gigs supporting Polaris and Hellions already under their belt, the 3HF boys are hungry to make a dent in the Brisbane scene. Right after they figure out how Brandon’s voice got so high.

LIQUID LOLLIPOP 4-piece chaotic bubblegum-grunge band from Brisbane whose live shows leave the listener wanting more. High energy and a band that has to be seen live to appreciate.

THE SPARE TYRES Comprised of 4 young larrikins from Brisbane’s northern suburbs.
Jimmy, Wesley, Harro & Muzz were all great mates before deciding to play together, with this chemistry evident in their live performance. Described as ‘the juxtaposition of Indie Rock and Aussie Pub Rock’, The Spare Tyres provide a hard-hitting fusion of these genres. Memorable hooks, driving grooves & emotive delivery. Formed over beers, & refining their craft in a shed, The Spare Tyres pride themselves on men, who just happen to love playing music together, & playing it loudly.
