Event Details

Penelope Trappes is a UK-based Australian experimental vocalist and musician creating intimate and sacred soundscapes that focus on minimalism, spaciousness and shadows. Penelope’s fourth album, Heavenly Spheres, released in April 2023 on her own Nite Hive imprint, was composed using just piano, voice and an old reel-to-reel tape deck during a two-week artist residency for Britten Pears Arts at the house where the composer, teacher and musicologist Imogen Holst lived in Aldeburgh, Suffolk UK.

Support from Matt Warren + Stormworm.

Matt Warren is a lutruwita/Tasmanian electronic media artist, musician, curator and writer, based in nipaluna/Hobart. His music and sound practice has a basis in both composition and improvisation. He performs and records electro-acoustic and drone works, solo and collaborates with others under a number of monikers. He sees his work as part of a greater context aligned to psychedelia, digital abstraction and hauntology.

Stormworm is the solo electronic music project of lutruwita/Tasmania based musician and visual artist David Fooks. With a focus on utilising hardware samplers, synthesisers and new music technology — David uses various approaches to sound synthesis and sample manipulation in order to explore different sonic terrain. Resulting in an amalgamation of spliced sonic grains and progressive synth passages. Bouncing between light and dark, fast and slow, rhythmic and ambient.
