OILS | a haunting, introspective three-piece with a sound described as “New Romantic catharsis draped over brutalist eastern block architecture” and “a cold Roxy Music with a warmer Crime & the City Solution.”

Fronted by Tai Tate (Master Leonard), Lehi Curtis (Barb, Lowlux) and Chris Stabback (Spirit Valley, Faker) OILS is a writhing, disenfranchised dance that merges post-punk’s dissonance with a brooding, eldritch undercurrent.

Industry insiders are electrified for OILS, with Wade Keighran heralding their debut as “the most important independent release of the year, in any year it is released in”. 

With experimental, gothic tracks characterized by existential lyrics, restless energy and a pulsing disdain for musical virtuosity, OILS’ detached, gloomy rhythms evoke a sense of minimalistic dark fantasy and carve a raw, haunting soundscape.

Anthony Anzaldo (Ceremony, Cold Cave) has come aboard to remix one of their tracks for their inaugural vinyl release, and early listening parties amongst Australia’s musical elite have drawn strong parallels between OILS’ cerebral atmospherics and Joy Division's moody, dystopian disquiet.
