OBIE TRICE

The Real Name No Gimmicks rapper Obie Trice is hitting Australian shores this July to celebrate his album    'Cheers' 15th Year Anniversary.

The title track "Cheers" celebrates Obie's successful debut into the rap game after being in the Detroit underground for many years. The album's title is a homage to the long running NBC sitcom of the same name.

Topics Obie has touched on this album include his life on the streets of Detroit, problems with his mother, relationships with women and the soulful reminder that, despite having made it into the mainstream, he has not forgotten his friends. The album debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 with 226,000 copies sold in its first week and has sold over 2 million worldwide

The notable album also received love down-under as an ARIA charting album with 2 big singles being recognised in 2003.

Obie Trice went from no one to someone in the rap world quickly when Eminem signed him to Shady Records and executive produced his debut album 'Cheers.'

Born on the west-side of Detroit in the Schoolcraft and Greenfield area, Trice began his rap career humbly. He dropped out of Cooley High School in the early '90s and began making ends meet, which wasn't too easy in the cold, abandoned streets of Detroit.

His turning point came in 1998 with the birth of his daughter, Kobie. Shortly afterward, he took note of Eminem's breakthrough success in 1999 and began to have faith that he too could make it in the rap game, despite living in wayward Detroit.

Fast forward a few years and Obie has cemented an extensive rap career of his own by establishing an independent music label 'Black Market Entertainment.' His first release from the label was 'Bottoms Up,' and in 2015 he released 'Good Girls' from his album 'The Hangover.'

Still in the game, and with no intention of stopping Obie's shows will be one not to be missed.
