He has toured the world as lead guitarist for Salif Keita, Toumani Diabate, Oumou Sangare, The Super Rail Band de Bamako and now Moussa Diakite and Wassado look forward to their premier performance at the Basement. Following stand out performances at the recent Mullum Music Festival this show will form part of a tour which will include performances at the 2018 WOMADelaide Festival.

Heavily influenced by the traditional Wassoulou styles of Southwestern Mali, their music fuses tradition with blues, jazz, Cuban and Afro-rock creating a dynamic high energy mix that is mesmerizing, sophisticated and irresistible.

Moussa returned to Mali in 2014 to record new album, Doncomodja at the legendary Studio Yeelen with some of Mali's finest musicians and contemporaries including; Djelimady Tounkara, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Kasse Mady Diabaté recent Grammy award nominee Bassekou Kouyaté and multi-Grammy award winning kora player, Toumani Diabaté. The result is a highly acclaimed tour de force as "Diakité re-emerges as humble torchbearer, unsung hero and ambassador for Malian culture"

Moussa Diakite and his exciting five piece band Wassado which features the talents of Junior Jones, Len Samperi, Philllippe Lincy, Nemo Lynn and Patricia Alvarez, will be performing tracks from brilliant new album Doncomodja, in a show that is not to be missed!
