MOUNT LIBERATION UNLIMITED
Mount Liberation Unlimited is the brainchild and creative magnum opus de funk of Stockholm native musicos Tom Lagerman and Niklas Janzon. A life long friendship grounded and circled around musical exploration, the two have since their first release in 2014 found comfort in their own certified organic take on dance music. As the music schools of their youth grew old and the norms, rules, conventions, teenage bands and tight denim wear that came with it grew even older, MLU decided to set out on a journey destined far away from suburban life's predicted patterns. With the right side of their brains focused on making music that made their feet wiggle, the left side was set to explore the landscape between human groove and electronic synchronization.
Over the past decade Kristin Velvet's life has been devoted to music in one way or another - first as a promoter & DJ in Tokyo, then as the Australian label manager of UK's Domino Records. Today she is an essential figure of Berlin's club scene, heading up the fantastic Arms & Legs records - the label from Daniel Steinberg & Nils Ohrmann - which has featured a long line of killer remixes & releases from respected artists including Oliver Dollar, Paul Johnson, 808 State, Nick Holder, Jay Haze, DJ W!LD & Crazy P. Velvet's music acumen has been well documented within the label with her own productions gaining support by the likes of Maya Jane Coles who featured two of Velvet's tracks in her BBC Radio 1 essential mix of 2015. Geared directly to the dance floor her releases have also received nods from key tastemakers including Resident Advisor who hailed her 'Big Bam City' EP as 'gleefully maximal, unashamedly nostalgic house... this is fist-pumping good fun from start to finish'. Velvet's music taste is broad and her flexibility behind the decks sees her traversing confidently across genres and decades but always with a keen eye on the dancefloor, a place she inherently understands.
