Michael Vdelli & Gerard Maunick Duo

Michael and Gerard met in early 1991 when they began performing together in the first incarnation of Blues/Rock group Powershift.

The band had two distinct line ups, Mark I, the volatile 4 piece and the Mark II 5 piece, a more experimental excursion, both of whom went on to be considered among Australia’s finest exponents of the genre.

Apart from the impressively eclectic repertoire and tight musicianship of the band, the standout attraction of Powershift was the contrasting, yet harmonious musical interaction between the two front men on guitar and vocal. Michael, with his smokey voice and Les Paul on the left, counterbalanced with Gerard’s soulful vocal delivery and super slick Stratocaster on the right.

It was clear that these guys were friends and loved to perform together. They created a unique energy that filled rooms consistently throughout the early to mid 90’s, culminating in the classic 1996 live album “POWERSHIFT - LIVE AT GOBBLES NIGHTCLUB”.

Fast forward 24 years and a Niagara of water has flowed under the bridge since the Powershift days. Michael has been living in Europe, touring and releasing a string of successful albums with his band VDELLI. Gerard likewise, has released multiple solo albums and toured extensively throughout Australia & Europe with his special brand of original music.

2020 see’s Michael and Gerard, who have remained good friends throughout, reunite and play together in a duo for the first time.

The repertoire is varied and covers genres from blues, funk, jazz, reggae, country and some styles yet to be named. It’s basically two guys that can play and sing, do what they do best and having a great time!
