Party like it’s 1980 when Mi-Sex transcends the COVID-19 lockdown for 4 exclusive shows over 2 nights at The Vanguard, Newtown, on Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th of December. Fresh out o’ the bunker to celebrate 40 years of Space Race, expect a mammoth live show featuring Mi-Sex’ unique blend of rock meets new wave, meets punk meets disco, on stage for only the second time in 2020.

1969 may have been the year that man set foot on the Moon, yet 1980 was the year that Mi-Sex launched Space Race. This makes 2020 the 40^th Anniversary of Mi-Sex timeless classic LP – Space Race – featuring the hit singles ‘People’, ‘It Only Hurts When I’m Laughing’, ‘Living In September’ and title track, Space Race’. 

In a set that includes all the hits from the debut LP, Graffiti Crimes, celebrated Space Race (1980), Shanghaied! (1981) and Where Do They Go? (1983), get-set for a show that revives the soundtrack of a generation – ‘But You Don’t Care’, ‘Computer Games’, ‘People’, ‘Blue Day’ and ‘Castaway’, alongside a few newbies for fun. 

Joining Murray Burns on keys ‘n’ synth is Steve Balbi (Electric Hippies, Noiseworks) on vocals, James Van Cooper on guitar, Travis New on the bass, and Jordan McDonald on drums – celebrating a cultural legacy that is iconographic 1980s new-wavers, Mi-Sex.

 This is an 18+ event.

Shows will be seated and limited to 75 per sitting, patrons will be seated to allow for social distancing.

Artists to perform two separate sittings, 6.00pm - 8.30pm & 9.30pm - 12.00am.

Dinner & Show packages include entry, seating and a one course meal.

Tickets will need to be pre-purchased, no door sales will be available on the night.

Minimum x2 tickets per transaction due to social distancing measures.

Please adhere to social distancing at all times and follow direction from venue staff.

The venue will be taking a number of precautionary measures to ensure patron safety, including:

- Hand sanitiser dispensers

- Signage and social distancing markers throughout the venue

- Regular sanitising of the venue and full clean between sittings
