Event Details

Lucky Oceans celebrates 70 years on the Planet and 40 years in Fremantle and gives thanks with a special concert extravaganza featuring many of the musicians he’s made beautiful music with from 1981 to the present day, from Jim Fisher through to Jessie Gordon.  People are flying in from all over to attend this once in a lifetime, not-to-be-missed event.

Part of the proceeds from tickets will go to Support Act.

Lucky Oceans is a double Grammy Award winning pedal steel guitarist who co-founded premier Western Swing group Asleep at the Wheel.   As presenter of the Daily Planet on Radio National for 21 years Lucky became a central figure in Australian cultural life.   He has played with Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris and Jerry Lee Lewis and is listed in Hugh Gregory’s book, ‘1000 Great Guitarists.’  He has been musical director for major festivals, written music for theatre, film and television and presented the ABC TV Series ‘The Planet.’  With his vast knowledge of music and daredevil improvisatory spirit he masterfully mixes multiple musical styles with startling immediacy.  The Village Voice called his album ‘Secret Steel’ ‘A head-spinning, genre-dissolving album of deliciously bent notes. ’ His latest album ‘Purple Sky’ featuring Paul Kelly and Kasey Chambers was nominated for an ARIA award.
