Liyah Knight plays at Tiva 86 King St, Sydney CBD on November 8

Liyah Knight, backed for the first time with a full live band, launches her new single ‘Play It Cool’ with supports from Birdee and Tahls.

On “Play It Cool” Knight’s signature crooning vocals float through a beat that fuses a myriad of sonic influences into her own unique world; the song oozing a whole new level of confidence. Written with Styalz Fuego and Rudy Sandapa,“Play It Cool” showcases Knight’s growth as a songwriter, while simultaneously capturing how much fun she’s having as an artist. By the time the first chorus hits, Knight’s nonchalance is contagious.

Liyah Knight says of the song, “I’ve spent the last 12 months doing what I love and having fun, and I think ‘Play It Cool’ is a testament to that. It’s about not taking relationships and life too seriously, and enjoying the moment”.

“Play It Cool” is the first new release from Liyah Knight since her 2021 EP Traveller’s Guide, that cemented her as one of the country’s brightest emerging voices. Traversing a unique cocktail of sonic tones, Knight’s genre-defying, unrestrained approach to songwriting, composition and her own creative direction gained her praise from critics at NME Australia, RUSSH Magazine, Sniffers and more. Prior, Knight’s 2020 debut EP, NESTING was quick to receive praise from triple j Unearthed and community radio upon the release, as well as support from tastemakers including Astrophe Magazine, Pilerats, Acclaim, Filter Zine, Coup de Main and more since.

Since support slots alongside Budjerah, Merci, Mercy, Stevan and Milan Ring, Liyah Knight has most recently toured with Odette, Telenova and Joy Crookes, plus performed along this year’s crop of exciting new talent at BIGSOUND 2022.
