Hailing from Kiel in Germany, Sebastian Genz - aka Moomin, became fascinated with hip-hop, funk, jazz and breaks in the early 90s after spending hours in front of the radio armed with nothing but a tape deck. Driven by his intrigue for sampling and making mixtapes, he began DJing and producing. 

Over a decade later, disenfranchised by the state of the German hip-hop scene, Sebastian moved to Berlin. He turned to producing electronic music, incorporating his love for sampling into house music. Teaming up with iconic Hamburg label Smallville Records in 2011, his debut LP ’The Story About You’ was released, followed by ‘A Minor Thought’ in 2016, both of which received universal acclaim.

Today, Moomin’s sound has remained more relevant than ever, testament to the timelessness of his productions. His introspective take on house music, laden with hypnotic loops and organic textures is why he is considered a luminary of contemporary deep house.
