LAST DINOSAURS 'Yumeno Garden' Tour
Intriguing and expansively lush... the album is full of Velcro hooks and circular choruses." - The Music
"A raw, minimalistic sound." - Beat
"Last Dinosaurs are establishing a direct line to their audience... they're having much more fun as a band now, unified in their vision for this record and for the future." - Pedestrian
We know your speakers are still buzzing from blasting their brilliant third album Yumeno Garden all weekend, but Brisbane indie rockers, Last Dinosaurs, are set to get you pumped up once again with the announcement today that they'll be taking the record on the road in early 2019 for a national Australian tour.
The trio of Sean Caskey, Lachlan Caskey and Michael Sloane made the announcement in an interview with triple j Breakfast hosts Ben and Liam this morning, where they also talked about the writing and recording of the fantastic third record, which has already spawned the huge singles 'Domino' and 'Eleven,' as well as the brand-new focus single, 'Bass God.'
The tour will see the band perform club nights in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Their previous east coast tour sold out in a matter of minutes, so it's recommended fans get in quick when tickets go on sale Wednesday, October 10 at 9am ADST, so as not to miss out.
Taking inspiration from ghost towns in Japan, through to neon cityscapes in America (and everywhere in between), Yumeno Garden has seen fans and critics alike praising the growth Last Dino's have displayed across the eclectic mix of music and influence on their latest record. It's a record that has seen the band recapture the vitality and dynamism of their early releases, while pouring in the experiences and abilities they've learned on the road and in life along the way.
No more can that be heard better than on their brand-new single 'Bass God,' the third big single to drop from the record.
After a big night out I woke up in the morning feeling very contemplative about a thought I had during the peak of the evening," Sean Caskey explains as the motivation behind the song's writing. "I was standing on the side watching all the people from different cultures and religions congregate to dance together. This idea just seemed so enlightening and interesting and I was imagining these people being united by a tall, long haired, colourful faced-painted bass rock god playing all the epic bass lines that united everyone in a euphoric trance. In the morning, I quickly wrote a spooky house track about that whole idea which became a platform for the final song. Its origins are very distant to the final recording but the concept of being guided through life remained. The difference was it was more about finding answers from within yourself and not relying on an imaginary being."
It's just one of the many stories that wind their way through the songs of Yumeno Garden, a record the band is truly thrilled to have out in the world and ready for fans to embrace with them at these upcoming shows.
"We have gone on a long journey of experimentation and realisation since our last album" Says Sean. "Now our hands are tight on the reins and we couldn't be more ecstatic about taking this album on tour"
