FREE IN THE WELCOME SWALLOW: Lara Travis and Rosie Haden & Greg Hoepner // MUSIC STARTS 5PM

Lara Travis writes songs of unconventional beauty. Drawing on her background as an art writer, curator, historian and showgirl, she's a guitar picker who tells stories that are brutal, pretty and funny at once. These are tales of marginal lives. Their characters are imperfect, far-from-ideal, sometimes hapless, compromised and corrupt ... and very relatable.

In the summer of 2017, Rosie and Greg joined forces; their combined musical talents and  30 years in the industry have culminated into creating a melodic, edgy and rhythmic sound. Their debut cd of dark, electric folk blues (recorded by Richard Andrew of Underground Lovers, He Cries Diamonds) contains songs by Spencer P. Jones, Townes Van Zandt and Grace Slick as well as Rosie Haden originals.

Since Rosie and Greg started performing together they have played at Adelaide Fringe Festival (March ’19), Bruthen Blues Festival (Feb ’19), Berlin tour (Oct ’19) and various venues in home-town Melbourne.

“At the core of Rosie Haden’s writing and performance is the musical spirit of ’60s San Francisco. With a rich and powerful voice that evokes the vocal imagery of Grace Slick and Mama Cass, every note and word of Rosie’s unique blend of roots music genres distils and delivers the essence of that era to speak for the 21st century. Deeply soulful, thoroughly original and utterly convincing.” - RICHARD FIELDS – TRAILBLAZER RECORDS
