LANIE LANE ANNOUNCES NATIONAL TOUR FOR OCTOBER/NOVEMBER. Lanie’s first tour in over two years celebrates the release of ‘Night Shade’

Three years have passed since LANIE LANE released her much loved debut album 'To the Horses'. It was a record that saw Lanie reach dizzying heights and live out some experiences that most songwriters only dream of. Across 18 months, she signed to Ivy League Records, saw her debut album enter the ARIA charts at #12, play sold out national tours and make appearances at a long list of high profile festivals. She graced the covers of a stack of quality magazines, made trips to the US and UK, won FBi Radio's SMAC Award for Record of the Year, The Age's EG award for Best Female and the AIR award for Best Blues and Roots Record. Somewhere in all of that, she recorded a single in Nashville for none other than Jack White and to top it all off, To The Horses went Gold.

After bright lights, big stages and long flights, Lanie moved to a secluded area in the Victorian bush to write her next body of work - an environment perfect for an artist ready to emerge into her own creative truth. The end result is Lanie's astonishing new album NIGHT SHADE.

Fans got their first taste of the forthcoming Night Shade album with the release of the album's first single, the chiming and wondrous 'Celeste' accompanied by the visually stunning video shot on location in Peru. It's a signpost to the kind of musical development and positive creative change that typifies the new record, and in turn, the new live show.

To coincide with the release of her brand new album, Lanie is extremely excited to announce that she will be embarking her first national tour since 2012, accompanied by the excellent band that helped bring her new songs to life on record. These shows will be the first chance for fans to hear Lanie's new body of work live, as well as all the favourites from her first album again, and she can't wait to perform.

"The band and I are super excited to play these new songs together for the first time since we recorded them" says Lanie. "We always have a great time playing live and are really looking forward to a new adventure with new music!"

Lanie's live band is made up of some of Lanie's closest friends and musical collaborators: Jez Mead (trumpet, guitar), Sarah Belkner (whirlitzer, rhodes and backing vocals), Aidan Roberts (guitar), Tim Keegan (electric bass), and Paul Derricott (drums and percussion), Lanie says:

"Working with such accomplished musicians has always been a huge privilege and honour for me, especially as they are all such dear friends. Having people who I trust on a personal level was very important to keeping the integrity of these songs intact."

In many ways Night Shade is an obvious departure in sound and style from 'To The Horses' and for Lanie, it's a welcome and necessary change in direction.

"Before making this album, I had always lived in a more masculine way, a harder way. It took a big commitment to open myself up to my own softness and vulnerabilities, but I realise now how much of a strength those qualities are. I am so much more receptive as a human and an artist when I am not pretending to be tougher than I really am. Therefore, there was naturally a very strong feminine element that emanated the songs and their production."

Night Shade is a record that documents Lanie's personal and artistic journey. It marks a transition in her life, a time of bravery, adventure, honesty and inner growth. It's the record she really wanted to make and it's the record she really wants you to hear. Now, she can't wait to play these songs live.
