Kodiak Empire 'The Animist' launch
Progressive rock group KODIAK EMPIRE will launch their latest release 'The Animist' with a hometown show at Woolly Mammoth in Brisbane on Friday 7th October. Known for their blend of complex rhythms with memorable melodicism, they recall Amputechture-era The Mars Volta by way of Diorama-era Silverchair. Having shared stages with acts as diverse as COG & sleepmakeswaves, the band are themselves a captivating headline act with a propulsive live show. Of the release, the band says:
Animist is probably the darkest, yet most triumphant sounding tracks on the album. It’s also a song that we consciously tried to structure with a more ‘pop’ songwriting sensibility. At the time of writing this track we were heavily influenced by US band The Contortionist, so some of their influence may be heard throughout!
Support on the night will come from Sydney experimental trio HASHSHASHIN, featuring members of Squat Club, Adrift For Days & Slimey Things, as well as the eclectic sounds of local favourites MISTER ABACUS & ALLORA.
