Chugg Entertainment is thrilled to announce American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, KISHI BASHI, will return to Australia next year to play two very special intimate shows at Melbourne’s Howler on Wednesday 15th February and Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Thursday 16th February.

Kishi Bashi will return to Australian shores two and a half years on from his last visit, to play two headline shows along with an already announced appearance at the Perth International Arts Festival, alongside local act Teeth And Tongue. An engaging live artist, Kishi is known for his joyous and energetic on-stage presence, incredible live vocals, and mesmerising multi-instrumentation; regularly switching between violin, beatboxing and looping pedal.

Released in September, Sonderlust is the critically acclaimed third studio album from Kishi Bashi, and his most personal and artistically adventurous to date. Produced by Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear) and with the help of engineer Pat Dillet (Angelique Kidjo, David Byrne) and drummer Matt Chamberlain (Morrissey, Fiona Apple, of Montreal), Sonderlust is "straight from my soul" says the artist. "I questioned everything about what it means to love and desire. The difference between loving someone and being in love".

"The violin virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist has managed to create a lyrically richer and more accessible album than Lighght without sacrificing his integrity nor left-of-centre sound... All in all, Sonderlust is overwhelmingly joyous." - The Music (4 stars)

"... most sophisticated album to date. Infused with the sounds of disco, R&B, and '70s soft rock, it retreats from Ishibashi's classical music training, leaning more on guitars, synthesizers, and Ableton software... By grounding the album in the duality of love's joy and pain, and the ultimately ephemeral nature of both, Kishi Bashi achieves something close to transcendence." - Slant Magazine (4 stars)

"... delivered with a careful balance of discipline and abandon. Though drawn from rock and pop's past, some of these musical styles are new territory for him and thus "Sonderlust" is full of surprises... arresting, whimsical and beautifully played." - Wall Street Journal

'Can't Let Go, Juno' is the third single from Sonderlust, and has become a staple across Double J and local metro community radio. NPR said of the track, "The latest single from Kishi Bashi is a synth-heavy, pulsing pop song full of both drive and heartache".

A renowned violinist, Kishi has toured internationally with the likes of Regina Spektor, Sondre Lerche and indie-rock outfit of Montreal, and is a founding member of new wave indie act Jupiter One. Over the years, Kishi has taken the stage for a live performance on the Late Show with David Letterman, and has wowed audiences on NPR Music's Tiny Desk series (watch here). Wrapping up an extensive US tour earlier this week, Kishi Bashi will be in fine form when he returns to Australia for back-to-back intimate headline dates next year.

"... shiny electro-pop that whizzes, squeals and often feels as if it's about to fly off the rails altogether... Every step of the way, Ishibashi exudes swoony romantic yearning that pairs nicely with a searching, empathetic quality worthy of Sonderlust's title." - NPR

"Sonderlust is profound and futile, hopeful and shredded, an action and reaction, a death and a birth. Most of all, it is a change of heart: from one hardened to one softened by love. Ishibashi's Sonderlust is a damn experience." - Slug Magazine
